Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26th, 1991) more popularly known as her professional title Ari Lennox is an American singer and songwriter born in Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist associated with J. Cole's label Dreamville Records. She released her first EP for the label on Oct. 21st, 2016, titled Pho. This is when she began gaining recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album, debuted on 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox started uploading her music onto the internet in 2012 when she dropped her first mixtape, Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography, in 2013. The year 2014 saw her release more music via the Internet including Bound. The 21st of July, 2015 was the day Omen featured her on his album Elephant Eyes on the track Sweat It Out. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew back then was interested in having her work on Rihanna reference. On the 8th of December, it was revealed that she had signed to Dreamville Records. Backseat is one of the songs she co-wrote with Cozz on the album collaboratively titled Revenge of the Dreamers II. The 21st of October, 2016, the EP Pho debuted. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change as well as performing in the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as an opening act. The singer also performed in the music videos Nothing but the Best by EarthGang and Icarus along with Bas the label's co-founders. The debut album of Ari Lennox Shea Butter Baby was released on July 16, 2018. The album's first single, called Whipped Cream The album's first single, Whipped Cream came out in September 5th, 2018, accompanied by a an accompanying music video. In November, she dropped two singles titled 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. On the 13th of November two singles, titled The No One and Pedigree. She appeared with Cole in the Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby, on November 16and later released the song as a solo single for her debut album. The 20th of February, 2019, a music clip was made available for the track. The track has received over three million views on YouTube within its debut week. She was part of 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour during December 2018.
