Aurora Aksnes' first musical moment was when she stumbled across a miniature piano in her basement and bewildered by the sound it produced. Jan Oystein Aksnes was her father. They encouraged her not to play music only for fun or as a means of growth but rather, she should explore it. In order to do so she wrote her first original compositions. Bjork and Leonard Cohen are among her favourite writers. She decided to start performing the songs she wrote publicly after her mother suggested that they can help other people, not be famous with her work but to make those around them see the importance of their work and how they impact the world. When she was six, she began to play the piano, and when she was nine was writing music. Her family didn't have any idea about it until she reached the age of fourteen. Aurora was not a goal. Her sole passion is writing music. She believes that music is the most effective method to experience anything.
